Weight Loss Update

What I wore today
I wanted to give you an update on how I'm doing with my weight loss plan as today was weigh day.

Around a month ago I wrote a blog post about dealing with my post pregnancy weight. I've added the link at the bottom of this page. I had a goal in mind to loose some weight by my babies naming blessing which is a month from now. My main goal is to feel a lot more confident in what I'm wearing.

I'll give you a little background on what weight I had to loose. Before I fell pregnant I'd put on around half a stone since I'd got married. Not because I wanted to, but because it's just one of those things, watching my weight wasn't on top of the list at the time and it's easy to put on a bit of weight. While I was pregnant I put on between 2 and 2.5 stones. I don't know the exact figures as I don't religiously weigh myself, but I know approximately my weights.

I'm not sure exactly when I weighed myself after I'd had my baby, but when I did, I was slightly over half a stone more than my pre-pregnancy weight, which was approx 1 stone more than when I got married. So it wasn't loads of weight to loose, but it wasn't going to come off without any effort on my part. I've always had to watch my weight and I've found loosing weight harder since being in my 30s.

I've never followed a structured diet plan before. I like to control my eating generally through healthy eating and allow myself treats every now and then. Since having a baby I felt like I needed to do something that had structure, something I could follow that's been proven to work. So I chose Slimming World as I already knew a little about the diet and know people who are currently successfully loosing weight. And from what I could see it was less of a diet and more of a healthy eating plan. I'm sure other diets would work, but I can't comment on them as I've never followed any of them.

My baby is 6 months old in just over 1 week, so in reality it's still early days. They say it takes 9 months to make a baby, so give it time to get your body back. Half a year seems like quite a long time, but after having a baby it's nothing. It takes a long time to get your body back and still now I feel the effects of being pregnant, going through labour and giving birth.

Well I'm now back in my pre-pregnancy jeans and approx 1 month ago I weighed in just under my pre-pregnancy weight. Even though I knew I still had some work to do it felt so good to be back to that weight.

Well this mornings weigh in takes me just under the weight I was when I got married. That was a nice way to start my day!!

I still have some work to do, but that will be exercise to tone up. My body shape has changed, so although my weight is down I still can't fit in all the clothes I was wearing when I got married. But I'm no longer over weight and my BMI is normal.

My husband has also been following Slimming World and he's been slowly loosing weight every week. I'm so proud of him and his dedication to stick to it.

The reason why Slimming World has worked for us is because it's less of a diet and more of a life style change. We eat normal meals that we like with a few changes to the recipe. There are low syn puddings we can have and if we want a treat we can without feeling like we've ruined everything.

I'll give an update in 1 month.

    1. Thank you! It's not always easy, but I'm so much happier restricting myself and allowing myself something yummy every now and then instead of every day which is what was happening. Lets hope I keep it off.
