How To Turn Your Bathroom Into A Spa

After a long busy day, what sounds better than a visit to the spa? But of course, we all know that they're never the cheapest of visits, so why not create your own spa within the comfort of your own home?
You can create your own private space away from the outside world, and relax in a bubble bath surrounded by candles and calming music. - If you're looking at your bathroom right now thinking that can't be achieved - it can. You just need to know what to do.
Here's how.

Soft towels
It sounds obvious, but one thing that spas are amazing for is their incredibly soft towels that tenderly cuddle your body dry. So it's worth investing a little extra money for some high-quality materials. And make sure you wash them as instructed to ensure you get the best results.

Earthy tones
When looking at a colour scheme, you should focus on natural earthy colours like browns, greys, greens, and creams. You want to room to feel as organic as possible. The smaller the room, the lighter in colour you will want to go as this will open up the area making it look more spacious than it actually is.

Wood tiles
Keeping with the earthy tones, bringing in wood elements really touch base on the nature vibe. Whether you go for wood flooring or even wood tiles on the wall, make sure you choose a colour that compliments your other features. Oak works well as it's quite a neutral shade, as apposed to bloodwood or mahogany which is a lot redder. You can even get wooden decor like small invisible shelves or even holders for your toothbrush.

Calming lights
You should keep the bathroom lighting quite simple, as you don't want them to overtake the room. Carefully crafted glass wall lights will give you a nice glow while working as an accessory too. And if you are looking for an ever calmer feel, then turn out the lights and introduce candles to the room. Scatter them around the room in all different shapes and sizes, so you make the place feel more natural.

Scents
You can create sweet smells with the use of scented candles, essential oils, and even fresh flowers. Flowers look beautiful and smell delicious, so consider going to the garden centre and buying an array of different flowers. Focus on the ones that awaken something in you, whether it be visually or because of the smell. Lilies work great, because not only are they interesting to look at, but their fragrance is incredible.

Music
What would a spa be if there was no background music? Well, it wouldn't be a spa. The music may be so subtle that you don't even realise it's there, and yet your subconscious will pick up on it straight away and feel at peace. You can buy 'spa inspired CDs,' or you can create your own playlist, full of your favourite tunes that take you away to a place where you feel as light as a feather.
