The Weather Outside Is Still Frightful!

Are you shivering in your boots simply from sitting on the sofa? If so, it might be time to check those window panes and make sure the back door is shut! Just because we’re slowly waving goodbye to winter doesn’t mean it’s no longer cold outside! And because of that, a lot of us are looking for ways to stay toasty warm when both indoors and outdoors. Heat Your Kitchen

Your kitchen is full of appliances that provide warmth, and thus using them is going to heat your house usually during lunches and dinner times. And because heat rises, there’s a good chance you’re going to feel the effects in your bedroom as well. So if you’re getting a bit nippy in your house, cook some food. You’re going to have a bit more energy to combat the lethargy that comes with being cold, as well as be a little more toasty in your rooms.

This sounds like it’s going to get expensive, so try to balance your heating methods against each other to keep the heating bill down. If you have some Home Heating Oil on your side, you’re going to have a much better time of keeping your appliances churning out as much warmth as you want, and a better price considering the season.

Check Your Radiators

The extreme cold temperatures and changes in this can be a shock to a heating system, and that means checking on it is the next step. Away from the kitchen, the radiators in your house are the main source of warmth for your rooms, and you need to make sure they’re working well. If not, you’re very likely going to end up a frozen brick by the time summer actually rolls around!

Checking your radiators means bleeding them, which releases all the cold air that’s got trapped inside. Don’t worry, this happens to everyone, so there usually isn’t any need to bring out a professional at this point. Only if the problem persists after you’ve bleed all the radiators in your house will you need to bring someone in to check your central heating system. You can’t let the problem continue onto next year after all!

Dress Up the Gaps

And this means curtains and draft excluders. Relatively cheaper items that you can use in every room to keep the warm air in and the cold air out. So close your doors, put down an excluder and then close your curtains as well. This is particularly good if you’re going out, as you won’t have any body heat left behind to keep your rooms heated in your absence.
