Super Fun Summer Crafts for Kids

Who doesn’t love a good craft session with a curious kid? As summertime is quickly approaching, we as parents are always searching for things to do with our little ones. Here are a few fun and artsy things to do with your kiddo. The best part about them- they can all be done in the sun! If you need more idea check out our Pinterest.

Rock Painting
Rock painting and pet rock creating is a super easy activity for you and your little one. All you need is a little bit of paint, some googly eyes, and a lot of imagination! When you’re finished, you have the most interesting and most low-maintenance pet ever!

Melted Crayon Art
This cool craft requires some help and supervision from an adult. However, the result could end up being quite the conversation piece. After having your kiddo arrange old crayons on the canvas board, just simply leave the masterpiece in the sun!

Marshmallow Paint
One of the best parts of finger painting is getting messy. What’s even more fun is being able to eat the paint! A grown-up will need to create the paint mixture with melted marshmallows and food colouring.

Flower and Veggie Stamps
One of the best parts of summer is being able to pick flowers. Go flower or veggie picking with your kiddo, then have them create patterns by dipping them in paints and making stamps with them on paper!

Popsicle Stick Sculptures
This craft will require a lot of popsicles. Get to snacking on popsicles with your little one and save all the sticks. Have fun building houses, picture frames, and making cool pictures!

Milk Carton Bird Feeder
Bird watching can be a lot of fun for you and your child. Have all the birds come to you by creating a neat bird feeder with a milk carton and some paint, markers, and feathers. Don’t forget the birdseed!
Fairy Garden
Tis the season to spend a lot of time outdoors soaking up the lovely sunshine. Get some various sized terracotta pots. You’ll need some moss, a tiny house, a little fairy, some magic toadstools too! Smash some of the pot, then fill with soil. With the broken pieces create a ‘steps’ effect. Make sure any sharp edges are safely under the earth to protect tiny fingers. Succulents also work really well here. Make use of all the levels you have created within the pot.

Butterfly Feeder
You’ll need a plastic bottle (an empty sauce bottle with a hole in the lid), cotton ball, rubber bands, flowers (the brighter, the better), twine, water, and sugar. Wrap a rubber band around the bottle, with the string make a handle around the bottom of the bottle. Add all of the extra rubber bands around the bottle too, evenly spaced. Tuck all of your flowers in the rubber bands to cover the whole bottle. Mix your sugar and water (yummy butterfly food). Pour the mixture into the container. Place your cotton wool ball inside the lid of the bottle and pull a ‘wick’ through the hole. Ensure it is wet and smells sweet with the sugar mixture. Then just hang it up outside!
