Whether it’s a work of art, a home interior project, or a lifestyle that’s become a little stale, we can all do with a bit more inspiration and creativity in our lives. Unfortunately, some people think that creativity is an inherent trait, but creativity is a technology that can be learned. Here’s how.

Carry a notebook

Whether you are a creative writer or not, carrying a notebook is an excellent way to improve your creativity and enhance the quality of your work. Of course, writers know the benefits of carrying a notebook and jotting down small ideas and character traits, but anyone can use them.

The notebook you use can be a traditional paper one or an app on your phone, whatever format suits you best. When you have a creative idea for your work or your life, write it down. Then, once a week, it’s a good idea to compile and categorize these thoughts to keep them relevant.

Use your phone

There are nearly 8 billion people in the world, and just over 6 billion of them have smartphones. Smartphones are another pivotal technology that has innovated in a purposeful and convenient direction. Today, smartphones are preferred to computers and laptops for many people.

It isn’t only convenient notebook apps that you can find on your smartphone; you can find apps to assist with many forms of creativity. For example, if you’re a writer, you can find platform apps with handy chapter sections. There are apps for every creative discipline you can think of.

Make creative time

When it comes to being creative, there are two schools of thought. The first suggests that inspiration is the most important thing; you have to wait for the inspiration to strike and then write it down. The alternative is to work to a schedule regardless of the work’s quality.

However, many creative people try to combine both mechanical and organic processes to achieve consistent and high-quality results. If this is your philosophy, you need to make some dedicated creative time to work within. Often, inspiration will emerge during this dedicated time.

Break the routine

If you spend most of your time working or studying, trying hard to obtain your goals, you might be doing yourself a disservice. That’s because habitual routines can be a hindrance to creativity and inspiration. If you want new ideas and to improve your overall well-being, it’s time to travel.

Studies show that breaking your habitual routine is excellent for your mental health and your creativity. For example, when you travel with london student tours you suddenly free yourself from your life conditions, which relieves a lot of stress. And you get new creative stimulation.

Do things differently

Part of being creative is doing things differently. Habit is the enemy of creativity, so anything you can do to shake up your habits will change your perceptions and practices, helping you think about your problems in new ways. What habits do you have, and how can you alter them?
