Redecorating Your Bathroom - Without Breaking the Bank

Redecorating your bathroom is a great way to boost the value of your home and to make your home life that much more pleasant. While it’s easy to overlook the bathroom when planning to refurbish or redecorate your home, it’s more than worth it so that you can inject a little bit of luxury into your home.

As with other home improvements, bathroom refurbishment can be expensive. However, there are some ways to spruce up your bathroom without spending too much money. Here are some tips that should help you out.

Replace Taps, Not the Whole Fixture

Ripping out your bath and sink is decidedly expensive, but it isn’t always necessary. You can update the look of your bath or sink by replacing the taps with new ones. If your fixture is in good repair, you’d be surprised how much of a difference it can make.

For example, wall-mounted spouts are luxurious and sleek, but while they’re more expensive than your average tap, it’s much cheaper to install them rather than replace your bath entirely. You can feel like you’re at the spa without shelling out for it.

You can also get some traditional taps, including timeless brass taps which stand the test of time. Or you can modernise your bathroom with some contemporary taps. They have a significant change on the look of your bathroom, without punishing your wallet.

Plenty of Plants

Indoor plants are known for their positive effect on people’s mental and physical health. Not only do they improve their air quality inside, but plants also make you feel better and can even help you to concentrate.

Bathroom plants are no exception. Turn your bathroom into a lush, green sanctuary to relax in with leafy indoor plants. Ferns are an especially good choice, as they thrive in warm, humid areas and are very easy to look after. You can create a true jungle with a touch of imagination, hanging plants from the ceiling to drape down.

Paint and Wallpaper

Gone are the days of minimalistic whites and neutrals. While the clean look is still fantastic and timeless, there’s no reason to be afraid of going bright and bold with your walls. Paint them bright colours, or softer hues to create the illusion of space in a more cramped bathroom.

You can also have fun with your wallpaper. One heavily patterned wall draws the eye and can shout your bathroom’s theme to the world. Are you creating a luscious jungle? Or a relaxing seascape? Or perhaps a glamorous and luxurious mini-spa? Whatever you decide, announce it with your decorations.

Don’t Forget the Soft Stuff

No bathroom would be complete without towels and bath mat sets. Towels are vital to have on hand, both to dry your hands and yourself. Bath mats help you to dry your feet and prevent slips and falls.

However, just because they’re practical, it doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun with them. Match the colours of your bath mat and hand towels, and pick something bright that contrasts with everything else. This is especially good if you have gone for a clean, minimalist look.
